SCHOOLED – CHAPTER FIVE
I open my laptop, and the desktop comes up immediately. I left it running from this morning, when Todd picked me up. It's eight at night now, and Todd had brought me back at two. Short lived stay, but the rest of it was extremely awkward.
Skype comes up, and I look at my friends list. Todd's online.
A question has been digging at me ever since I left his house. It's probably none of my business, but after what happened...I wanted to know, more than anything.
Rose: Hey.
Rose: Um, I got a question.
ToddsAlot: shoot.
Rose: I don't know if this is really...
Rose: Eh. Okay to ask, I guess.
Rose: But are you a virgin?
He doesn't start typing until about a minute later, but then stops. He starts again, stops. He does this a few times, and I expect a large response about why I shouldn't even ask such a thing. I begin to chew on my fingers in suspense.
ToddsAlot: no.
That's it, really? I waited that long for just “no”? And this reply bothers me a little. I don't know why, but the thought of having sex with a guy who already gave himself away to someone. I suddenly feel dirty. As if I was kissing and groping someone else's property.
Rose: Oh. Okay...
ToddsAlot: does that bother you?
I choose not to respond. I'm mad...no, I'm furious. I can't even believe him. I don't think I have a right to be angry, but I am! Son of a bitch...
Sylvia logs on.
Suddenly my stomach tightens in worry. She hasn't texted me since the last insult she threw at me while at Todd's house, and she was so mad. I could feel her anger radiating through my phone. I need to make amends. I bring my hand to my keyboard, but fear catches me. She might chew my head out for this...
Rose: Syl...I'm sorry...
SyllyGrl: Hey hypocrite.
Rose: How am I a hypocrite?
SyllyGrl: Don't be stupid. You yelled at me for “wanting only whats on the outside”, then you go off and nearly fuck him on the couch. What the hell.
I sigh. But she's not done.
SyllyGrl: You guys aren't even dating, are you? Or did you keep that from me too?
Rose: No, we're not dating! But I told him to stop! I told him that we can't because it's wrong!
SyllyGrl: Whatever, Rose. What did you do that was so “wrong” besides kiss him??
Oh, no, the big question. I know if I tell her, her response can vary...
I can't lie. I can't run.
Rose: He had my hand on his junk.
SyllyGrl: FUCKING GREAT.
Rose: You ASKED!
Todd sends me a message.
ToddsAlot: i'm only assuming that Sylvia hates you right now.
Rose: I'M SO DONE, OKAY?
I go to my home on Skype and begin to edit my tagline.
“FUCK. EVERYTHING.”
And slam my laptop shut. I throw myself onto my bed and groan loudly into the pillows. I don't want to go to school tomorrow.

This chapter's short, but it's just a transition. Chapter five will be longer, and it's when they get back to school.

Wow... o.o I have to admit, I had to kind of swallow at the unease of how virulent and thick the tension of the story is right now, like I can feel it revolving around my head in this very room. Not directly towards the chapter itself, but at the realization how high the altercations could escalate from here, and as wrong as I feel for saying this, I'm absolutely loving the drama in this story. 
While I can sense that some of the story's elements are based off of your experiences, given that the characters share facets of both your personality and the people around you, there's also that hint of originality and independence about them that makes this story so... real, so believable. I guess it's become blatantly clear from here that Sylvia's jealous Rose is the subject of Todd's affections, but then that adds flesh and credibility to the tribulations and boons of their friendship, and it wouldn't be interesting if there wasn't a little melodrama between them after their previous statement. XD And at Todd not being a virgin... at first, the enlightenment of this was like being struck by a brick wall, and I wanted to comment, "Todd, you naughty kid. >:/" But then I realized the amount of hesitation in his typing indicates there's a reason he was nervous to admit, and I get the distinct feeling it's not just experiences with girlfriends inciting his reluctance... Maybe that's just me.
Man, if this chapter's just the quiet before the storm, then I eagerly look forward to the next chapter and how Rose will be able to handle this difficult situation. Dang cliffhangers!! xD But then, they wouldn't have me coming back for more if they weren't there, would they?
